Betty Gilpin hails 'beautiful' Office Romance co-star Jennifer Lopez
Betty Gilpin thinks Jennifer Lopez is the "most beautiful person" she's ever seen.
The 39-year-old actress stars alongside Jennifer, 56, in Office Romance, the new romcom movie directed by Ol Parker, and Betty has heaped praise on her co-star, describing Jennifer's age-defying appearance as "crazy".
Asked about working with Jennifer on Office Romance, Betty told People: "Well, speaking of up close, she's the most beautiful person I've ever seen up close.
"It's crazy. It's so much crazier than you could ever imagine. She's an alien on this earth, aesthetically."
Betty described Jennifer as the "rom-com queen" and a "brilliant actress".
The actress relished the experience of working with Jennifer on the new movie.
Betty said: "She is the rom-com queen. Because I think within that otherworldly, beautiful shell, she's a brilliant actress and she also has that essential rom-com quality, which is being willing to really make fun of yourself and be a clown … It's a joy to watch."
Jennifer plays Brett Goldstein's on-screen love interest in Office Romance, and Betty observed that they immediately struck up great chemistry.
The actress explained that their connection "was really there from day one. They have that thing on screen that you can't manufacture … That's always a dice roll because you never know until you're filming if that's going to be present."
However, Betty added that "it's hard not to have chemistry with Jennifer. I felt like we had really good friend chemistry. She's just that kind of actor. She's just so available and playful and brilliant and sexy and loves what she does."
Meanwhile, Brett recently hailed Jennifer as a "phenomenal artist".
The actor heaped praise on his co-star, describing Jennifer as "extraordinary".
Brett, 45 - who is best known for playing Roy Kent in Ted Lasso, the hit Apple TV series - told Extra: "I think she is a phenomenal artist.
"I think it is extraordinary to do as many different things as she has done at the level that she has done them with the success that she has done them and how it seems to transcend time and ... You know, you forget how many f****** bangers she has in her catalogue.
"I also genuinely — as much as I think she is beloved — I think she's underrated as an actor. I think she's a fantastic actor. And seeing her do her thing on this film, seeing it up close, is really like, 'You're f****** good at this.'"
Brett co-wrote the new movie with Jennifer in mind, and the actress felt flattered that he chose her for the role of Jackie Cruz.
She said: "Listen, anytime anybody writes something for me, it's super flattering, right? And it doesn't happen all the time. When I read it, it was funny. It was touching. It was romantic and it had a different edge to it than my other romantic comedies."
