'Our tastes align on basically everything': Daisy Ridley and Tom Bateman work well together

Daisy Ridley says it's easy to work with her husband Tom Bateman because their "tastes align on basically everything".

The 31-year-old 'Star Wars' actress worked with her producer spouse on her new original contemporary noir thriller, 'Magpie', and she says they had no issues.

Speaking to Radio Times magazine, she said: "I found that process wonderful, because our tastes align on basically everything. I think he's a brilliant writer and we were so clear about what it is that we wanted to make.

And we've achieved that."

The film is the directorial debut of theatre helmer Sam Yates.

The plot centres on a couple whose lives are thrown into disarray when their daughter is cast opposite a controversial major star.

'Magpie' was produced by Ridley and Tom Bateman for Werewolf Films and Kate Solomon of 55 Films.

The producers said in a statement: "Our aim with 'Magpie' is to make a Hitchcockian thriller that will take audiences on a genuine ride – fast-paced and beautiful to look at with a tension that will build from the start and keep everyone guessing to the very end."

Yates added: "I immediately connected with Tom Bateman's ingenious, intoxicating script. I'm excited to take audiences on a wild, surprising thrill ride with our stellar cast led by the incomparable Daisy Ridley."
