Jason Momoa and Andrew Koji in talks to star in live-action Street Fighter movie

Jason Momoa and Andrew Koji are in negotiations to star in Legendary’s live-action ‘Street Fighter’ movie.

The 45-year-old actor and the ‘Bullet Train’ star, 37, are in talks to lead the live-action film adaptation of Capcom’s iconic video game franchise of the same name, Deadline reports.

Noah Centineo and Roman Reigns are also said to be discussing their possible involvement in the movie.

While no plot details about the ‘Street Fighter’ flick are known, the film is to be directed by Kitao Sakurai, who signed on to helm the project after Danny and Michael Philippou exited the project last June.

Debuting in 1987, ’Street Fighter’ is a classic fighting game franchise where martial artists from around the world compete in intense one-on-one battles.

Each fighter has unique abilities and backstories, with the series centerd around global tournaments and the struggle against powerful villains like M. Bison.

This will be the third time ‘Street Fighter’ has received a live-action adaptation for the silver screen, with the franchise’s first cinematic outing coming in 1994 with the eponymous ‘Street Fighter’ - which was followed by 2009’s ‘Street Fighter: The Legend of Chu-Li’.

Momoa could most recently be seen in another video game adaptation, ‘A Minecraft Movie’, where he portrayed Garret ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison.

The film follows four misfits - Garret ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers), and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) - who are transported through a mysterious portal into the Overworld, a cubic realm thriving on imagination.

To return home, they must master this new world and embark on a quest alongside expert crafter Steve (Jack Black), confronting various challenges and creatures along the way.

Momoa previously described ‘A Minecraft Movie’ to be “almost life-changing” for him.

During an interview with RTE Entertainment, the ‘Dune’ star said: “I didn't expect it to be almost life-changing for me. I’ve never done a comedy. What I felt like every day going to work, excitement, the amount of laughter I had ...

“It was just something I've never experienced - where I loved the job and then you love watching the movie. I'm very excited for people to see it.

“Sometimes you do your job, you want nothing to do with it, you don't know how it's going to come out, [it’s] outside of your hands, but this was just like... every day was beautiful.

“I laughed so much and I'm kind of hooked - addicted to comedy.”

Momoa added he “loves to play”, and so ‘A Minecraft Movie’ “allowed [him] to go to all those silly places”.

He explained: “I don't try to be macho or cool, I have that playful nature to me. We've never really seen that side. So I guess yes, in a sense I was able to just let my freak flag fly!”
